The Church’s Crucial Role in the Pro-Life Movement: A Conversation with White Rose Resistance

By Jason Lupo

In a recent episode of Faith, Family, Fitness, Freedom, we sat down with Sean Bateman, the Colorado director of White Rose Resistance, to uncover a powerful truth: the pro-life movement can’t rely on politicians or nonprofits alone. If we want to see lasting cultural and legislative change, the Church must rise.

🎙️ Who Is White Rose Resistance?

Founded by national pro-life leader Seth Gruber, the White Rose Resistance is one of the fastest-growing pro-life movements in America. The name draws inspiration from the original White Rose group in Nazi Germany—young Christians who stood against the Holocaust. Today, this modern resistance is calling on churches to reject complacency and take bold, Gospel-centered action in the face of legalized abortion and cultural decline.

Sean Bateman, a former mechanical engineer, didn’t plan on leading a pro-life movement. But as he says, “God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.” And the call is urgent.

🏛️ The State of Abortion in Colorado

Colorado has become a hub for abortion tourism. Recent legislation allows abortion up to and including the day of birth—and now, taxpayers are being forced to foot the bill. Clinics like the infamous Warren Hern facility helped pioneer late-term abortion procedures.

Despite decades of Republican efforts and millions in pro-life funding, we’re still losing ground.

Sean puts it plainly:

“We’ve trusted political parties to do the Church’s job. But Christless conservatives act in Christless ways. We shouldn't be surprised.”

🕊️ Why the Church Must Act Now

Many churches are silent on abortion—and Sean doesn’t shy away from why. The honest answer? “Noses and nickels.” Leaders fear controversy, losing members, or donor backlash.

But silence has a cost.

“It’s not our job as the church to make people comfortable on their way to hell,” Sean says. “The Gospel itself is offensive. If we won’t speak truth now, when will we?”

The mission of White Rose Resistance is to equip churches to take up the pro-life mantle—to educate, train, and empower believers to be the hands and feet of Christ in a broken culture.

🎥 What Does Taking Action Look Like?

White Rose offers a clear plan for churches and individuals who want to get involved:

  1. Screen “The 1916 Project” – A compelling documentary uncovering the origins of Planned Parenthood and its eugenic roots.

  2. Form a Core Team – Mobilize like-minded members of your congregation.

  3. Get Trained – Sean provides a 3-hour intensive on sidewalk counseling, pro-life apologetics, and how to engage your community effectively.

  4. Hit the Streets – Join in outreach at clinics, college campuses, and cultural hubs to speak truth and offer hope.

The goal isn’t to grow a brand.

“I want to train the Church to replace me,” Sean says. “And then get out of the way.”

🙏 Support the Mission

White Rose Resistance in Colorado is largely a one-man operation—Sean. But he’s building a statewide coalition of churches and individuals committed to life.

If you want to help shut down abortion clinics, save babies, and awaken the Church, your support matters.

✝️ Final Thoughts

The fight for life is spiritual. Politics alone won’t fix it. Laws won’t change hearts. Only the Gospel can do that.

The Church is uniquely called to be a light in the darkness. And now is the time.

“You are the hands and feet of Christ. If you don’t go, who will?”
